Learning Disabilities

Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NVLD or NLD) and
Semantic-Pragmatic Learning Disorder (SPLD or SPD)

by Julie Shepherd Knapp, copyright 2006

These two disabilities are categorized as "language disabilities" seen as
weakness in non-verbal communication, and trouble with language
comprehension and usage.  The diagnostic criteria for NVLD are based on
neuropsychological testing.  Semantic-Pragmatic Disorder can be
diagnosed by speech-language pathology testing.  These disorders both
show much over-lap with each other and with  Asperger's Syndrome
characteristics.
